This is why before all of my photo sessions, I have my clients sign two forms. One is a print release form, and the other is a consent form so I can use the clients photos wherever I'd like. Facebook, this blog, marketing, etc.
What is the difference between Copyright Releases and Print Releases, you may ask. Please allow me to explain.
How Does A Print Release Work?
A print release gives you, the client, permission to print as many copies as you'd like of your images for your own personal use. It also gives you permission to use them on your Facebook, MySpace, or any other social network.
Prevents client from violating copyright by editing your images (Any changes to the image could give you a bad name)
Prevents commercial use without your permission (profit making)
I still own the photograph, but you get what you want. The ability to print your photos over and over again.
What Is A Copyright Release?
A copyright release means that the photographer has released all interest and rights to the image(s), they cannot use it without you (the client's) permission.
